General description of tasks and objectives to be achieved

Under the overall supervision of the Director of the Social Protection Division (ESP) and the technical supervision of the team leader of the SO3 Gender Team and the Gender and Development Officer, the Junior Consultant is expected to perform the following tasks:

a. Assist to a literature review and the preparation of a technical report on gender inequalities in access to and delivering rural services in developing countries, in particular agricultural extension and rural advisory services, and on good practices to develop targeted, customer-driven pro-poor and gender equitable rural services;
b. Provide substantive contribution to the preparation of an analytical framework and methodology to analyze the gender-sensitiveness of extension and rural advisory services;
c. Assist to prepare an information brief based on the above mentioned literature review and report;
d. Perform any other related tasks as may be required, in particular contribute to the integration of the perspective of gender equality and empowerment of women in FAO’s technical documents, when required.
