Gender in Agriculture Partnership

Transforming agriculture to empower women and deliver food, nutrition and income security

GAP Hub for Sub-Saharan Africa

At the Global Conference on Women in Agriculture (New Delhi,13-15 March,2012), the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA) offered to organize the second Global Conference on Women in Agriculture (GCWA2) in Africa in 2015. FARA has been recognized by GAP partners as the regional Hub for SSA and in this role has recently commissioned a study to investigate the opportunities and constraints that exist for mainstreaming gender equality in African Agricultural Research and Development.

The outcome of this study has served to develop the regional body gender strategy. It is expected that the GCWA2 could take place on the eve of the GFAR/CGIAR-organized GCARD3 Conference, or earlier as a major component of the GCARD3 process which will unfold over 2014-2015.
